About the practice

We are one of the few remaining independent practices in the region. We have been providing services in fertility and equine reproduction all around West Midlands for the last 40 years. Our clients are based across the whole West Midlands going as far as Shropshire, Liverpool up to Peak district and Birmingham. We see mares in our purpose-bult clinic in Brownhills or we do stud work from satellite farms.

Stud work and fertility

The practice was founded by prof. John Newcombe, pioneer in horse reproduction, famous author of tens of publications on the subject. Reaching his eighties he still actively publishes and continues in his research.

Gary Kelly was one of his many junior vets who became a partner in 2013 and eventually owner of the practice in 2021 when John officially retired from the business (not his academic work). Apart from learning from the best, Gary holds a postgraduate certificate in equine stud medicine and continues with the wide range of fertility treatment and stud work, including artificial insemination, embryo flushes and transfers. Our vets are available 24/7 for emergencies and even during stud season you can rely on us when foaling goes wrong.

First opinion and specialist equine care

As for routine horse work, we have always prided ourselves in providing high standard first opinion care while keeping costs down for our clients. We have started offering visiting specialist services in surgery (Safia Barakzai, on the picture) and medicine.
